Parking Fine...

…Which I took to be a compliment. Well OK it’s the oldest gag in the book

Huge dilemma. As I may have mentioned before I drive to work which I know is bad, but I’ve been faffed around soooo much on public transport I really can’t face it anymore. At least under my own transport methods I get a seat, I listen to my choice of music (poor) and control the temperature if I want to be warm I will be, if I want to be cool I can be. Most importantly of all I don’t have to cope with being groped by undiserables who take the opportunity of a crowded train carriage to press against you… Grim.

My work has a deal with a car park nearby. We get a parking pass and the fee is debited from my salary every 4 weeks so I don’t have to be hassled with having parking money and normally get a space no problem, and it’s reasonably safe. However, after Easter the fee is going up to £100 every 4 weeks. £1,300 a year just to park my car.

I’m not happy about this ginormous increase and as such I’ve written to cancel my pass. So now I’ve got to decide if I go for the pay and display nearby which is £3.50 per day which you have to be there quite early to get a space, or take my life in my own hands and go for the £2 a day Bronx car park. The Bronx is about a 20-30 minute walk from my office, however thre has been a number of people mugged on the way their and back. A girl from my netball team was beaten up and had her car stolen when she got to the carpark one late evening. So there is the dilemma. Do you pay more for safety and comfort? Or do I risk life and limb and some scrote taking a shine to my Bug and decking me for it.

My other option is quite scary in itself… Get the train. A fellow blogger "the faceless businessman" has stories of woe and hassle on the journey from Bolton to Manchester and work is rubbish enough without the palava of late, over crowded public transport. I would normally think that these tales are exaggerated for comic effect – however I know as a true fact from my train days that these stories are true and accurate.

So my choice is simple get up early have lots of change and pay for the £3.50 car park and at least if I’m off work, or at a different site, I’m not paying for an empty car park space.

If only I could quit my job and live the life of leisure but then who would pay for all my trips and things?

You can park in the £1 car park where loads of people from this very hallowed organisation park. Its safe and a lot of people walk that way so you might be able to get someone respectable to escort you there.
